Covid-19 FPC Youth Ministry Update

Our worlds have been flipped upside down with COVID-19.  We thought we’d be on the Waco Spring Break Mission Trip, but the coronavirus had other plans. We are taking steps as a youth ministry to engage and support you and your families over the coming weeks.  We are rolling out an FPC Youth Online game plan this next week.  Look to your inbox tomorrow for details about programming, social media, and online small groups. You are not alone, and God is up to something . . . let’s be a part of it together.

God is up to something, and we have set up a variety of ways that you can be a part of it.

  • Weekly Devotionals on Instagram. That’s right, we will be going through the Psalms via IGTV to bring a little bit of God’s unchanging truth to your newsfeed. So log in, and be on the lookout for our morning devos.  Not on Instagram? Not to worry. We already have a group of students who will be receiving the devos via e-mail. Just let us know if you want to be added to that list.  Also, you can read the daily devos on the blog page of the youth website.
  • Sunday School is still a thing. Every Sunday morning, we will be posting (via Instagram) and emailing a weekly Sunday School lesson. With the lesson, we will be providing discussion questions which we encourage you to use as you pray, journal, chat about the lesson as a family, and/or call a youth staff to discuss.
  • Weekly Zoom Small Groups You will receive an email with the zoom links for the weekly youth small groups for Middle School Girls, Middle School Guys, High School Girls, and High School Guys.
    • High School Girls– with Anna Kate Rader (
    • High School Guys– Thursdays at 5 PM with Dave Garvey (
    • Middle School Girls- Wednesdays at 6 PM with Angelina DeVincenzo
    • Middle School Guys– Wednesdays at 6 PM with Ben Dreher (

You are not alone;  God is with you, and so are we. Even if we are a virtual Christian community for the time being, we are still a community. We love you and care for you, and we pray for you from afar. More than anything, we promise you that God is still up to something. So, log on and see what God’s up to in your online FPC youth ministry and learn how you can be a part of it.

In Peace that surpasses all understanding,

Your FPC Youth Staff

Youth Ministry Mission Statement

Led by the Holy Spirit and in partnership with families, the youth ministry of First Presbyterian Church exists to engage 100% of the youth under its care, to teach them and train alongside them to live in Christ, and to send them out as Godly women and men of integrity who join in Christ’s transforming work in their homes, schools, churches, workplaces and worlds.”

Youth Ministry Motto

God’s up to something.
Be a part of it.

We are a Christ-centered community marked by compassion, brokenness, grace, worship, mission, and play:

  • Compassionwe seek to be present with and for one another in times of great joy and in times of great pain.
  • Brokenness – we “accept the anxiety of feeling ourselves in suspense and incomplete,” and offer our authentic selves to God and each other, confident that God does not despise a broken spirit.
  • Grace – we are all undeserving recipients of God’s love and acceptance. We strive to offer one another the same extravagant forgiveness and belonging God extends to us in Jesus Christ.
  • Worship – the Holy Spirit gathers us together to experience the Word of God written, proclaimed, and revealed in Jesus Christ through intergenerational community that loves, glorifies and enjoys God together.
  • Mission – we join in Christ’s continuing ministry of reconciliation in the world.
  • Play – we recognize laughter, fun, and joy as markers of a healthy faith community.
