Adam’s Devotional for November 5-11, 2020

From Adam…

The unknown. It feels like there is a whole lot in that category these days. It can be scary. If it goes on or we dwell on it for a long time, it can become debilitating.  What’s going to happen in this relationship? What am I going to do? Where am I going to college? If scripture is any indication, then we never have to worry or wonder about what God is going to do. From Genesis to the Gospels and beyond, we learn to count on what God is going to do. The writer of Ephesians says that “from the foundations of the earth,” from the very beginning, God’s plan has been and continues to be to love us in Jesus Christ. What is God going to do? God is going to choose us. God is going to claim us as beloved family. God is going to call us to receive, enjoy and share Christ’s love with the world. While there may be many unknowns we are living with, God’s choice for us in Jesus Christ is not one of them. Remember that this week in prayer. Try praying one of these prayers. I don’t know _____ (whatever your particular unknown is), but I do know that you love me. Or, God I don’t know what to do about this decision, but I do know that you have decided to love me. Or an even simpler one, God I don’t know, but I want to know your love. In the midst of the unknown, may you know God’s love more and more.

God’s up to something . . . be a part of it.
