Tik Tok Tuesday – 9/8/20

Online Sunday School – 9/6/20

September 6

  • What words or lines jump out to you in the text? Why?
  • What are the accusations that God is bringing against the priests in this section?
  • How do you react to God’s line of, “Return to me, and I will return to you”?
  • How are the people of Israel robbing God?
  • How have you heard tithe talked about in our lives?
  • How does that compare or contrast with the Biblical understanding and goal of tithing?
  • For Israel, the temple was also their vehicle of government. In other words, paying the tithe was as much a religious practice as it was a civil responsibility. How does that compare to our system of paying taxes?
  • If paying taxes can be attributed to meeting the same goal of the tithe, does that mean we shouldn’t worry about being generous? Why or why not?
  • What would it look like for us to fulfill the same heart behind the goal of tithing in the Bible?
  • What would be the benefit to our communities (school, town, church, etc.) if we practiced generosity more often?
  • Is there something you can do this week, not out of guilt but cheerfully, to give to someone in need?

Adam’s Garage Talk – 9/3/20

Tik Tok Tuesday – 9/1/20

Online Sunday School – 8/30/20

Malachi 2:17-3:5

  • What words or lines jump out to you in the text? Why?
  • How would you describe the two responses to social justice issues – suffering, hunger, sickness, etc.?
  • Does the second response mean that we shouldn’t pray for social injustice? Why or why not?
  • With the understanding that this list are all people who are oppressing or taking advantage of others, does it add
  • anything to how we think about the people’s two responses to these kinds of situations?
  • Do we have people or issues like this in our day and age?
  • How do you feel our culture responds to issues like these?
  • How do you feel your church responds to issues like these?
  • How would you honestly say that you respond to issues like these?
  • What is one thing that you could do this week to participate in God’s justice in the world?

Adam’s Garage Talk – 8/27/20

Tik Tok Tuesday – 8/25/20

Online Sunday School – 8/23/20

Malachi 2:1-9

  • What words or lines jump out to you in the text? Why?
  • How do you feel about the idea of God cursing the priests for their actions?
  • Verse 3 provides quite the visual! Why would God stoop to a 6-year old level and threaten to shove animal dung in their faces?
  • What are the accusations that God is bringing against the priests in this section?
  • What does it mean to show “partiality in matters of the law”?
  • What would it mean to consider yourself a priest or “a messenger of the Lord” as you go about your day?
  • Would living as “a messenger of the Lord” or to turn others from sin mean being outcasted by your friends or at
  • school? Why or why not?
