Our Youth Mission Statement
Led by the Holy Spirit and in partnership with families, the youth ministry of First Presbyterian Church exists to engage 100% of the youth under its care, to teach them and train alongside them to live in Christ, and to send them out as Godly women and men of integrity who join in Christ’s transforming work in their homes, schools, churches, workplaces and worlds.”
We have an amazing group of teenagers and youth leaders at First Presbyterian Church, Nashville. Our Youth Ministry places great emphasis on empowering families and connecting students to an extended Christian family in the church.
All of our teenagers meet in grade-level classes on Sunday morning for Sunday School classes with a “home-grown” curriculum, covering everything from the patriarchs to peer pressure. An energetic team of adults who love Jesus Christ and love kids teach these classes. Once a month, all youth meet together on Sunday morning for worship, games, and a lesson led by staff.
A number of our youth take a deeper look at the Christian life in one of our weekly 10:24 small groups. These groups meet at a variety of times throughout the week and provide an informal time for searching, questioning, and learning to live as an extended Christian family.
We also have activities throughout the year – Prayer Partner Breakfast, Youth Sunday, Senior Banquet, Crud Day, and Youth Basketball. Additionally, each grade level will participate in multiple service projects throughout the year with a chosen organization. Some of the organizations we have worked with include Preston Taylor Ministries, Nations Ministries, The Cumberland, Second Harvest Food Bank, Young Life Capernaum and many more!
Our youth have participated in mission trips to Ecuador, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Belize, Arizona, Texas, and West Virginia. We have done various projects in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina.
Because of the increasing need to support parents of our youth, we frequently sponsor programs for parents and teens together. We also host events designed specifically for parents of teens. Please contact our Youth Program Coordinator Team (Ginger and Miller) at [email protected] or (615) 298-9570 if we can serve you or if you are interested in helping us!
